Gotta love the harp arpeggios and heavenly singing in this one...they would have you believe that if you just switch to Tide, the sky will open, the light will come down, celestial choirs will be singing and everyone will know we should do the right thing and the world will be perfect!
ReplyDeleteWhen Tide first came out it really was revolutionary, using synthetic detergents as opposed to old-fashioned soap. They did have some problems with the prototype formulation but IIRC it was mainly because the stuff was truly cutting-edge at the time and it behaved a lot different than the soap they were used to making. ReplyDeleteWhat in hell does PETA have to do with a tide commercial from the 1950's?!

ReplyDeleteEach year, thousands of animals die in Procter & Gamble laboratories -- the victims of painful, archaic and entirely unnecessary product tests. Caustic chemicals are forced into the eyes of rabbits and applied to animals' shaved and raw skin.
ReplyDeleteLaboratory workers place the animals in restraining devices so they cannot struggle while the workers apply the chemicals, which burn into the animals' eyes and skin.
Man, people were so... different... back then.
ReplyDeleteYeah most of today's commercials don't even show the product until a pointless random scene is played out... The commercials of the 50's actually got the product and the point of the product as well as a catchy jingle out instead of random lizards dancing...
ReplyDeleteI've never seen anyone look so lovingly at their laundry as she did at :39
