ReplyDeleteLooks like moisture to me. I was pouring ingots outside on a misty day and had a pop like that and metal was splattered up the side of my garage, the whole way up to my soffit. I was wondering where the crucible went?

chances are that there was an air bubble containing moisture and the gas rapidly expanded, causing the metal (which was hardening around the bubble) to break under great pressure, and throwing molten aluminum across the room....an easy was to prevent this would be to POUR SLOWER!
