  2. You sayin Ice T is 8000 years old, but the rappers you think keep rap relevant are the same age. That's why hip hop is dead cause the youth didn't carry on tradition. But whatever I'm just waiting for the next fad Freestyle technopopgangstaboybands or

  5. Hip hop have not flatlined per say, I think it is very, very commercialized and lacks authenticity. There are too many with singles about things that they have never done; and my guess is it will only get worse.

  6. Hip hop is dead. It no longer has any originality because artists don't create their own music, with the exception of the roots. ice t was way bigger than soulja boy will ever be, but he's past his prime

  8. Personally I don't like Soulja Boy but as far as him "killin Hip-Hop" I look at it this way, I don't consider his music "hip hop" Its more of a commercial type genre, music for the now...stuff that people will listen to now but will eventually die out (i.e snap music)

And the Donnell Jones in the background had me geekin

    But anywhoo

  14. I love your blogs. You seem way older than 19.....Anywho, I def agree with you....hip-hop is nowhere near dead, it's just evolving....and it will evolve again, probably repeat itself, and evolve AGAIN. That's the good thing about the world, it keeps turning and changing and change that isn't understood is automatically shunned and looked down upon. I will say that I definitely miss the hip-hop of the 90's (and 90's Rock as well)...

  15. I don't think Hip-Hop is dead. It's just not so many Hip-hop artists such as Kanye West or Mos Def out here today.

I think Southern Rap is getting more popular today such as Soulja Boy or T.I.

I love Common. He is very poetic to me.

My finals are this week! I'm trying to relax but at the same time, focus.

  16. agreed..there is alot of conflict between genres of music and its culture..almost the same as talking about religion in a classroom. and woww he said that to soulja?..i mean soulja boy though..if nething he shoulda said that to some of these rappers who r a mess..lol naw but he is cuttin up ice tea?...smh he needa rethink about what he stands for..and as said rap and hip hop are constantly being associated together..they r not as 1! hip hop was the stuff my mom usta listen to without cussin..

  17. I miss the Roots!!!
    NaS is the shiite!!!
I think ppl are too busy associating Hip-Hop w/ rap. 'cuz rap is constantly dying!

There is a HUGE difference between Hip-Hop and rap...ppl need to know this

    LOL at the "WHAT!?"

    Bird Walk is my shiite!!!

OMG I gotta go listen to my God's Son CD...I love that song "FLAAASH"!

  18. When it comes to the state of hip hop, I go by Mos Def's opinion: hip hop is a reflection of how the black community as a whole is doing. If we aren't doing well, then hip hop will reflect that. If the music is trite and materialistic, then we've become that way. Therefore Soulja Boy can't really be blamed for ruining anything that wasn't gone in the first place.

Don't let Ice-T's jealousy stress you out, S&T. There's no point in trying to understand his comments.
